Taking a Sick Day

My poor baby woke up fine and then started scratching her neck really hard .... she even had big welts from the scratching. Then almost as soon as she stopped scratching she threw up twice :( Hence the clothes drying over the tub (you'll notice my pants in the back there too!) The hotel floor and bed are feeling quite violated. She's had the sniffles since gotcha day, but I think the cold is getting worse. Our guide, Kelly, is bringing us some cold medicine as I type. I would swear this was an allergy to the bottle, since it all happened right after she ate ... but she's been taking the formula fine for the past 2 days ... any suggestions from the btdt crowd are highly welcomed.

Ahh, I'm so sorry to hear that Julia's not feeling well. The welts might have made me think the same thing about a change in formula. Is she running a fever too? See if you notice the itching and welts and try and track what she has eaten right before that. That's what happens to Michaela when she eats some foods, welts, itches, rashes, and sometimes her feet swell up.Benadryl helps Michaela with all the symptoms. Hope you all have a better day tomorrow! Deb

Oh no! Poor Julia! Hmmm, the scratching, welts (hives?), upset tummy and congestion? Could definitely be a reaction to something. And I am guessing that it probably isn't from the cigarette smoke at Emersons (Tee Hee Hee... York humor). I'm with Deb. An antihistamine might be worth a try. At least your sweet baby girl has Mom and Dad to give her some serious TLC. Give her a big hug from Aunt Julie... we miss you so much. :-)

Oh Alex, I'm so sorry she's feeling yucky. Kelly is wonderful though, I'm sure she can get what you need. It sounds like an allergic reaction indeed - possibly a milk allergy and lactose intollerance. I have a TON of prosobee soy formula with me that I can give you tomorrow night if you need. Keep us posted!!

So sorry that Julia is sick. Hana also got sick 2 days after gotcha day, which was very hard on her and us. I agree with the crowd that it does sound like an allergy, but I am not sure if Julia is lactose intolerant. The formula that is used at the CWI is a Wenzhou brand that is essentially a creamer (has a picture of a steaming cup on the bag). Since she has been drinking this formula for a long time, her allergy would have shown up by now. I recommend an antihistamine and remember to keep her hydrated if she is vomiting. Do you have any Pedisure with you?

Hope all is okay - I have no baby advice...but we just watched a movie that gives me an idea - take her up the ancient mountain to the buddhist temple - those monks always know what to do...it's uncanny...You know I'm just kidding. Mostly. ;3 Ana

Alex Where are you! We need more posts!:0) Is Julia feeling better? It does sound like an allergy, hard to say if it is the formula though. We miss you! Our prayers are with you.
